Prayer for the Friends of St. Jude
Dear God, I can get very caught up in my own problems. After all, they are real and cause me a lot of pain. But I remember that I am part of a large human family, your family, and we all have problems. I expand my awareness to include all people, especially the many others who approach Saint Jude with their concerns. I move out of myself to embrace them in prayer and ask that your grace may flow through every one of them.

About us
LogoThe Dominican Friars, the Province of St. Albert the Great, are Roman Catholic priests and brothers. We are part of the global "Order of Preachers," the Dominican Family of priests, brothers, sisters, nuns and lay people, who live and pray today in a holy tradition that dates back to time of St. Dominic, the thirteenth century.

Our mission is to communicate the Word of God through preaching, theological education, and the promotion of justice and peace. This mission in the Body of Christ demands a vowed community life, liturgical prayer and life-long study.

The Dominicans were founded by St. Dominic to live a life of itinerancy. “Itinerancy” is defined by Webster’s as “official work or duty that involves traveling about from place to place”. The word “itinerant” comes from the Latin root meaning journey. Dominicans (and all Christians to a certain extent) are called to view life as a journey. Just as St. Jude, the other Apostles, and the early Dominican preachers were called to travel and not get too settled, so it is for us all. We are on a journey to the Father. We are called to “preach the God News to all the world”. Each one of us is called to this itinerancy, even if we are called to the physical stability of raising a family or if we are bed-ridden. How? By being open to the calling of the Spirit; by recognizing that we are pilgrims on this earth and have a life beyond this world; by staying flexible and compassionate.
Even though we may be called to move from a place that is comfortable (either a physical place or a mental place) we have confidence that we are not alone. Dominicans live in community, but so do we all as members of the Communion of Saints, the Mystical Body of Christ. Exercise your holy itinerancy, and know that you are never alone!
