A Message From Fr. Jim
Summer brings with it our July Novena in honor of St. Jude and Ss. Joachim and Anne whose feast day is July 26. Gentleness and compassion are often characteristics we associate with grandparents. Ss. Joachim and Anne were the grandparents of Jesus, so we can guess that they were models of compassion and patient gentleness with our Blessed Mother, the child Jesus, and St. Joseph. Compassion means to “suffer with.” When we suffer with someone we are acting with compassion. Our culture today downplays suffering, so where do we find models of compassion in our world today?

Doing God's Will
In John 6:38 Jesus states very clearly that he came to do God's will. You and I have the same calling. Take a moment and become aware of the emotions you experience when you consider doing the will of God. Is there a sense of dread or elation? The answer to this question depends on your view of God.
