A Message From Fr. Jim
Happy NEW year! We who live in the Northern Hemisphere celebrate the New Year at the darkest, coldest time of the year. We have the longest nights, the coldest days. We have just ended the most hectic, stressful time of the year. Yet we celebrate a NEW year. Coincidently, we celebrate a NEW life at this time of year.

Being New
As we begin a new year the real question is, "will I be new, fresh and open each day this year?" The secret to a joyful life is to free ourselves of the failures and disappointments of the past and to not be, as Jesus put it, "anxious about the future." There is only now. God is everywhere in every "Now.

Dominican Connection
Many are unaware that St. Thomas, declared Doctor of the Church in 1567, was a Dominican. He was born in Italy in 1225 of noble class. His parents strongly objected to his decision to become a lowly friar and kidnapped him to try and tempt him to leave this band of preachers.
