A Message From Fr. Jim
You will probably be reading this letter during the liturgical season of Lent white vestments instead of violet, the Gloria is sung, and our Italian brothers. The Solemnity of St. Joseph is one of the days when we dispense with the somberness of the season to celebrate life, as a sort of oasis in the desert of Lent: and sisters have the tradition of Joseph’s Table, a feast for all in the midst of the fast!

Dominican Connection
The Province of St. Albert the Great, the Central Province to which the Shrine belongs, has had two foreign missions. The first mission was in Nigeria. Since its foundation the mission has flourished, and has since risen to independence. It is now a full-fledged province!

March Novena Guest Preacher
Fr. Risley has been an ordained Dominican priest for 42 years. His past ministries have included college teaching, 15 years in our Dominican mission in Bolivia in South America where he performed many and various ministries, university campus ministry and Spanish-speaking parish ministry at St. Pius V Parish (where the Novena will be!). For the last nine years, Fr. Jack has been a chaplain at the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters motherhouse and nursing home, as well as some part-time Hispanic ministry. He has also been part of a retreat team which gives a yearly retreat to North American Dominican sisters in Prouille/Fanjeaux, France where St. Dominic founded the Order of Preachers.
