Are you more like St. Jude, bringing the Good News effectively to others so that they want to become part of the Body of Christ, or do you shut yourself off to those who have different beliefs?

Grieving is OK
My mother died when I was thirteen years old and, you know, everyone said I took it so well. What they meant was, I didn't cry. I didn't grieve. Instead, I did something terrible. As mom became weaker and weaker I turned off all my deepest feelings of sadness and terror. I was always kind and smiling. When mom finally died I was completely numb, but did I put on an act!

July Novena Guest Preacher
In response to this mandate of the Church and similar ones from General Chapters of the Dominican Order, Brother Joseph founded the Shem Center for Interfaith Spirituality located in Oak Park, Illinois. The Aramaic word, “shem,” referring to the light, splendor and radiance of God found in all of creation and in all people, was chosen as a name for the center.
